Bjj Gi Women

They are usually very selective and take into account all possible criteria before a possible purchase, including size, material, model, flexibility and color. The same goes for the choice of a GI, even more a BJJ GI women which is the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu combat dress, a martial art derived from judo techniques imported from Japan. Here are some criteria to take into account when choosing a BJJ women's GI.

The use of the female Jiu Jitsu GI

The use is one of the flagship criteria in the choice of his BJJ GI women. We have two: competitive use and non-competitive use.

Competitive use

Competition Jiu Jitsu has the most rules and principles. For this use, the BJJ GI must be large, both for women and men, because it tends to shrink after several washes. For women's GIs, the sizes vary between 1.49 and 1.82 m and the weights from 38 to 90 kg.

Another important element to take into account in competition is the color of the women's GI. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu GI for competition only allows 3 colors including white, black and blue. It is also forbidden to use different colors for the jacket and the pants.

Non-competitive use

Here, it is a Jiu jitsu practiced daily for fun (just training sessions). This one is not as rigorous as the previous one. Although the sizes of the women's BJJ GI are the same as those for competitive use, the difference stands out in the colors. For the practice of non competitive BJJ, the colors of GI can be varied, in addition to the official colors. We also observe GIs of BJJ red pink, even of camouflaged color.

Grammage BJJ Gi

BJJ GI also vary according to the grammage, that is to say the thickness or resistance of the fabric. The higher the grammage, the more the GI is resistant to attack by the opponent. Consequently, the fabric of the GI must be less thick and light for female amateurs, ie 350 gr / m2 and thicker and robust for professionals, ie 700 gr / m2 and more.

The material and the price of the BJJ women's GI

For a GI to be resistant and durable, it would have to be made of a good material. There are three depending on the type of weaving:

  • Single Weave: this is the simplest material, because the weaving is very classic, which makes the GI lighter and less expensive;
  • Double Weave: this material is more expensive than the previous one. Double weave is the opposite of single weave which simply means double weaving in French. So a thicker material, a heavier and more resistant GI;
  • Gold weave: it is the best material on the market, it combines the best of the previous two to give a light GI, but still very resistant.
